About the Genus
Aeonium is a genus of approximately 35 species in the family Crassulaceae, indigenous to the Canary Islands, Madeira, and the eastern Mediterranean. In cultivation, hundreds of named hybrids and cultivars have been developed — particularly the striking purple-black forms so sought after in the Western succulent market.
At SouthQuest Farm, we specialise in old-stalk Aeonium: mature branching specimens that have developed multi-headed candelabra forms over 2–4 growing seasons. These commanding plants — impossible to source from younger propagation stock — are our most requested collector items.
