The World's Most Loved Succulent
Echeveria comprises approximately 150 species native to semi-desert regions of Mexico, Central America, and northwestern South America. The genus exploded in global popularity through the Korean and Chinese succulent breeding scenes in the 2010s, which produced thousands of named cultivars with dramatically enhanced colouration, novel forms, and improved cold tolerance.
SouthQuest Farm grows both species Echeveria (true botanical species for purist collectors and CITES-aware importers) and named cultivars (hybrid varieties developed through controlled cross-pollination, including popular Korean line imports we have propagated on-site for 3+ years).
Why Our Echeveria Travel Well
Echeveria are among the most transit-resilient succulents when properly prepared. Our pre-shipment protocol removes plants from soil 5–7 days before dispatch, allows the roots to callous and dry, and reduces plant moisture to a stable level that prevents rot during transit. Combined with our cotton-paper individual wrapping, the result is a plant that arrives with firm leaves, healthy root tips, and minimal transit stress.
Long-term retail partners report that correctly packed Echeveria from our farm have an arrival health rate consistently above 97% — even on 14+ day transit routes to Europe and Australia.
